The European novelty from Samsung is here! A cheap phone beckons with equipment and extreme support

  • Samsung introduced the Galaxy A16 4G as a cheaper variant of the 5G model
  • The new model will offer the same design and equipment, differing only in the processor
  • The phone will get 6 years of updates and will be released in November

Apparently, Samsung does not want to abandon the strategy of releasing 4G and 5G variants of its basic models just yet. The proof is the recently presented Galaxy A16 5G, which is now complemented by an almost identical 4G version. The South Korean giant is once again betting on the tactic of reaching the widest possible spectrum of customers who will be limited by budget when purchasing.

The Galaxy A16 4G differs from its 5G sibling basically only in the processor. The chipset ticks inside the phone MediaTek Helio G99the same as last year’s Galaxy A15 4G. The rest of the equipment remains practically unchanged – a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage with the possibility of expansion using a microSD card.

Photo equipment includes 50 Mpx main sensor, 5 Mpx ultra-wide-angle lens and 2 Mpx macro camera. The selfie camera has a resolution of 13 Mpx. Neither sensor is capable of recording 4K video, we will have to make do with Full HD. There is dual SIM support, NFC and a fingerprint reader on the side of the phone. A battery with a capacity takes care of the endurance 5,000 mAh with 25W charging supportalthough you won’t find the charger in the package. Of course, don’t count on wireless charging in this price category either.

Samsung promises the same software support for the Galaxy A16 4G as the 5G version – 6 major Android updates and 6 years of security patches. This is very superior for a lower mid-range phone, and the support could be envied by most of the much more expensive competing phones, whether we are talking about Sony or even Asus.

The Galaxy A16 4G is slightly slimmer than its predecessor and has also received certification IP54 for basic dust and water resistance, which is new in this series. Previously, IP certification was not considered for the Galaxy A1x and A2x series. The low-cost South Korean phone will go on sale in November, so far only in France. However, it is expected to soon expand to other European countries, including the Czech Republic. There will be gray, green and midnight blue color variants with a matte finish.

Samsung has not yet announced the price, but it can be assumed that it will be slightly lower than the 5G variant, which costs 249 euros (about 6,300 crowns). The phone could start with us under 5 thousandjust like last year’s model.
