The exhibition “Marisky Land” opened in Yoshkar-Ola

The exhibition, which has already become an important part of the cultural life of the region, opens its doors to lovers of folk art every year. For many years, this exhibition has been collecting works by members of the Mari regional branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. Each new season brings surprises: new names appear, fresh topics are raised. And art, like a living organism, changes, evolves, finds new forms and ways to express thoughts and feelings.

What awaits exhibition guests? First of all, this is a variety of topics and genres. Here you can find everything: from historical subjects to modern ones, from portraits to abstract compositions. The exhibition exhibits will tell about the past of the Mari region, its people, traditions and natural beauties.

The exhibition opens with Sergei Podmarev’s painting “Onar” (1964). In the film, the audience appears as a hero – the people’s protector.

Among other paintings presented at the exhibition is “Mari El” by Galina Bogatyreva-Kononova (1984). In her work, she glorifies the beauty of the nature of the Mari region through the image of a girl with long braids.

Sergei Uvarov in “Mari Melody” (2020) uses unusual color combinations and textures to convey the sound of music that nature “hears.”

And Andrei Sannikov in “The Beauty of Tsarevograd” (2012-2013) reflected the most interesting and significant architectural structures and sculptural compositions of Yoshkar-Ola.

In addition to paintings, the exhibition features woodwork made by local craftsmen. It is also worth noting traditional Mari clothing. The “Jubilee” dress and the mountain Mari costume demonstrate the sophisticated aesthetics and practicality of folk art.

The exhibition “Mari Land” once again confirmed its significance as a platform for dialogue between generations of artists and a space for preserving Mari culture. This event inspires creative people and helps a wide audience better understand the richness and diversity of the traditions of their native land.

The exhibition will run until January 12, 2025.
