A glass pavilion dedicated to the kitchenlike one glass house in miniature which was annexed to the main volume. This is the essence ofextension for a villa from the late 1960s in the green hills of Vicenza, a family home that evolves without distorting its essence to satisfy the needs and passions of the owners. The delicate project, signed by ATOMIC EARTH & Filippo Faletti, defines an area of relaxation and privacy at the back of the house, open onto the swimming pool and directly connected to the dining room.

«The windows and the structure create suggestive frames overlooking the park and the swimming pool, painting pictures that transform with the passing of the seasons. The room is filled with natural light that filters from every corner”, explain the architects.

The glass room occupies a total surface area of 28 square meterson the area that was previously a simple terrace. It has an iron load-bearing structure with wooden and glass windows, with metal casings that camouflage the downspouts, and an aluminum pitched roof. “There new glazed room it gives breath to the villa”, the designers continue. «The choice to use an iron and glass structure is an act of lightness and formal clarity, which breaks with the solid complexity of the rest of the house. The trees envelop the volume and the large windows invite them to enter.”

Inside, the space is extremely bright and welcoming. The online kitchen is completely suspendedto give the illusion of cooking in the open air. White and essential, it matches the round service table – the only piece of furniture present together with the service trolley, an iconic piece of Alvar Aalto. Only the floor gives a touch of color, with emerald green ceramic tiles, designed to contrast with the dark parquet of the nearby living area. Nice to live, the glass cube it is also aesthetically appreciable from the outside. «As evening falls, the new volume transforms into a bright lantern surrounded by nature. The interiors light up, like the souls of those who live there, reflecting on the pool’s body of water.”
