It is often said that you should be wary of appearances. This is again the case with this model, the Lynk & Co 900.
Lynk & Co presents a vehicle that could interest large families, but not only. Beneath its rather modest appearance and its interior with comfort that one imagines to be very pleasant, in reality hides a monster of power, developing up to 857 hp in its most powerful version. We warned you, appearances are deceiving.
An SUV intended for families
We know that SUVs have been on the rise for some time. Lynk & Co, a manufacturer of Chinese origin, is no exception to the rule and presents a vehicle which could frankly interest large families. Indeed, this model, 5240 mm long and 1999 mm wide, can accommodate up to six people on board. The rear passengers are particularly pampered since they benefit from a 30-inch 6K screen! The front passenger has no reason to be jealous, because between him and the driver there is another 30-inch screen that allows you to display multimedia content. Well, yes, there is a reason why the front passenger would want to be in the back: the engineers actually slipped in a sliding refrigerator.
In this immense cabin, we find no less than 42 storage compartments available to passengers. The trunk has a volume of 300 liters when the seats are deployed. Of course, once the seats are folded, this volume increases to allow the loading of much bulkier objects. On the design side, it is true that this Lynk & Co strangely resembles a Range Roverespecially if we look at the rear part. On the other hand, at the front, the similarities are less marked, and fortunately, the Lynk & Co 900 has its own personality, even if it is obvious that the designers were (greatly) inspired by the models of the British brand to design this big baby.
A crazy power
This behemoth is based on the SPA Evo platform. It can have different engines depending on the finishing levels. Thus, at the entry level, so to speak, customers will be able to choose a “modest version” plug-in hybrid equipped with a 1.5 liter engine and associated with an electric motor of 218 hp at the front and 313 hp at the rear for a total power of… 721 hp. And we’re talking about “entry level”! For even more power, Lynk & Co can integrate a 2.0 liter thermal engine combined with two electric motors, for a total power of 724 hp. Finally, in the most powerful version, the Lynk & Co announces a total power of 857 hp thanks to a 167 hp electric motor at the front and two rear electric motors of 218 hp each, all coupled to the most powerful thermal engine.
No family, no matter how exuberant, needs this level of power. Still, this very nervous SUV announces acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just four seconds in its most advanced version. This somewhat unusual model will first be launched in China. Its arrival in Europe and France is still uncertain. A word of advice: if you come across it on the road, be wary, because beneath its rather wise appearance lies in reality a real gas factory which risks leaving you stuck at a red light.
