Conor McGregor arrives in court in Dublin.
The controversial Irishman appeared in court this week. And he is facing an extremely serious charge – of raping Nikita Ni Laimhinova.
This is a case from 2018, when McGregor was supposed to have committed a crime together with his friend James Lawrence.
Although the fighter rejects the accusations, the testimony of one of the doctors who treated the attacked woman points to cracks in his defense.
The jury at Dublin Crown Court heard the following charge from the judge:
“McGregor was supposed to have committed rape with Lawrence.”
This statement is also supported by the testimony of Dr. Daniel Kan, who treated the woman right after the alleged incident.
According to him, the victim had bruises on her body, she was shaking and crying.
“She said McGregor was holding her by the neck, stopping her breathing, she thought he was going to kill her,” Kane told the court.
He submitted DNA samples as evidence, but also a tampon that she was supposed to have wedged in her private parts.
The unwanted sexual act should have happened during Ni Laihmin’s menstruation – after the trio met at a party. The incident was then supposed to take place at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin.
Ni Laihminová claims that McGregor and Lawrence, who were supposed to be carrying a package of cocaine, forcibly forced her to have sex.
“She tried to push McGregor away several times, but she didn’t succeed. He pulled her by the neck several times, which made her unable to breathe. He also handcuffed her,” claimed the victim’s lawyer, John Gordon, before the court.
After the disgusting moments, Ni Laihmin should have headed home to her mother. She called an ambulance, which took her to the hospital.
“Mr McGregor will tell you they had just a bit rougher sex, but don’t be fooled. He will also claim that my client gave him permission to do this, but it became a brutal attack on her body,” Gordon added.
His client is now seeking $2 million in damages from McGregor. The process should take approximately two weeks.
