The famous pianist Peter Donohoe will perform in the season of the George Enescu Philharmonic, on November 14 and 15

The second work in the program will be Bedrich Smetana, Patria mea (selections), a composition written during the period when the composer lost his hearing. The performance of this work in concert will be a tribute to the Czech composer, on the occasion of the bicentennial of his birth.

pianist Peter Donohoe built a remarkable international reputation after winning the First Prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1982. He collaborated with internationally known ensembles: Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Munich Philharmonic and St Petersburg Philharmonic. His career also developed as a music director, supporting Sir Simon Rattle’s inaugural concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker. By 2012, performed 22 times at the BBC Proms performed 22 times. He appeared on the stages of many classical music festivals: La Roque d’Anthéron (France), Ruhr and Schleswig Holstein (Germany), and he was invited to the Edinburgh Festival six times in a row.

Leo Hussain is the principal conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and is considered one of the most prominent contemporary specialists in Mozart’s music. He was music director at the Rouen Opera and the Salzburg Landestheater. He conducted the symphony orchestras of Vienna and Bamberg, the WDR Cologne Symphony Orchestra, the DSO Berlin, the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonic, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra. Outside of Europe, he has conducted the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia, as well as the NHK Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra at the Tokyo Spring Festival.
