Trump argued in the criminal case that he launched initiatives to review the results of the 2020 presidential election as a sitting president to ensure the election was fair.
In another criminal case, also against Donald Trump, the continuation of the proceeding in New York was postponed indefinitely last week by Judge Juan Merchan.
The judge’s decision was preceded by District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s motion to suspend the case until January 2029, during the time that Donald Trump is president of the United States.
In May, the jury found Donald Trump guilty of all 34 charges in a criminal proceeding based on the laws of the state of New York due to the falsification of business documents. The judge originally set the sentencing hearing for July, but later postponed it to November 26, after the presidential election, and postponed it again for a specific time.
