The Fetahi family – a little Swedish, a little Serbian

A year and a half ago, Sead and Tatjana Fettahi left their busy life in Stockholm and moved to Sajan, a small town in Banat, in order to start a more peaceful and fulfilling life. After two decades of working as chefs in Bergamo and Stockholm, Italy, they decided to invest in a property in Serbia and dedicate themselves to agriculture and the production of healthy food.

Their new life began with the renovation of the house, with the help and support of local residents. Inspired by the spirit of community, they decided to become cattle breeders and currently have 50 Alpine goats and Wirtenberg sheep on their farm. At the recommendation of the locals, they plan to replace the Wirtenberg breed with the Ciga, which is more resistant and better adapted to local conditions. Sead also grows clover, oats and barley on five hectares of land, producing most of the livestock feed independently. In addition, they cultivate a garden where they grow vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers.

Fettahi: “We will invest in rural tourism”

Fetahi also plans to produce dairy products, especially cheese, for which they have already started preparing. Within the house, they are planning a workshop with a capacity of 100 liters of goat’s milk per day, where they will make Italian cheeses such as cachota, mozzarella, ricotta and aged cheese for grating. Tatjana has already attended trainings in Italy four times in order to gain additional knowledge. Their farm is an example of how a healthy life and domestic production can go hand in hand.

Through local projects, they achieved a refund for the musical instrument and acquired Banat Golosian chickens, which roam freely in the yard. They also keep rabbits on the farm, whose meat they process, preserve and sell online. Their products, such as chicken eggs, marinated rabbit meat, vegan sauces and cheeses, already have a lot of customer interest, especially among the Russian community in the area.

In addition to agriculture, Fetahi want to develop rural tourism. They are planning to build a summer house, pizza oven, barbecue area and finish the lake in the yard, which would attract tourists, including friends from abroad. With hard work and love, their household becomes a true oasis in the Banat plain, while they show by example how dreams can come true through dedicated work and connection with nature.
