The Fiat Panda with the “tail” seen in preview

The Fiat Grande Panda started a new dynasty for Lingotto. More than a single model, in fact, the Panda is destined to become a real family, with various body styles to attract as much of the public as possible.

So, after the Great Panda it will be time for one Fastback (a provisional name since the official one has not yet been defined). Its shapes, however, could be similar to those of the Giga Panda concept and to those of ours render exclusive.

Stile da coupe

If the front area could largely reflect what was seen on the Grande Panda, the Fastback will mainly be characterized by a rear that is always squared, but with lots of rear window sloping. The tail could also have a specific look, with horizontally developed lights with a very modern look and the Fiat logo in the centre.

In terms of dimensionsthe Fastback should come close to 4.3 meters of the Citroen Basalt Vision, the French “cousin” which will be destined for South America and Asia, while the platform will always be the Smart Car, i.e. the same as the Big Panda.

For the interior there should be no particular innovations. Also on the Fastback we should find the rectangular dashboard with rounded sides (a shape inspired by the historic Lingotto track in Turin) and two 10″ and 10.25″ screens of instrument panel and infotainment.

Both thermal and electrical

The link with the Big Panda should also concern the engines. The Fastback should be launched in a mild hybrid petrol version with a 100 HP 1.2 and 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and 100% electric.

The latter could have the same 44 kWh battery and the same 113 HP engine as the Grande Panda, with a range in the WLTP cycle of approximately 320 km. But it is not excluded that, given the larger dimensions of this Fiat, over time a more powerful variant will arrive and is equipped with a larger battery.
