Soon ready to return to Pandora? New concept arts Avatar : Fire and Ash just came out. And as usual, it looks stunning.
Avatar – Fire and Ash : see you in December
This time, the license is relaunched. After Avatar: The Way of Water released in December 2022, the third part of the license created by James Cameron arrives in winter 2025 in our cinemas. Indeed, Avatar : Fire and Ashplanned for December 17will be the third chapter of the saga Avatar launched in 2009. Unlike the 13 years which separated the release of the first and second parts, the release schedule of the films Avatar has been greatly reduced. In fact, we will have a new episode every 2 or 3 years (if all goes well).
Even if the film did not collect almost 3 billion dollars box office revenue of its predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water still reported more than $2.3 billion recipes around the world. A largely reassuring score which should put the rest of the license on the right track. This second part was also nominated 4 times for the Oscars (including Best Film) and logically left with the statuette for Best Visual Effects.
New pictures
Recently, Empire Online has just offered us new concept arts of Avatar : Fire and Ash. Notably a stunning new image that offers the first look at the Ash clan. We can see there Varang, “the leader of this new clan, of a people who have gone through an incredible situation”to quote James Cameron in person. A new new character played by the Spanish actress Oona Chaplin. Still in the stand Empire, James Cameron promises that Oona Chaplin’s interpretation will be totally unprecedented and stunning:
She’s so talented, so good in this movie. Even with the animation on top his performance is incredible. She’s an antagonist, an accusatory character, but she’s alive, so real.
James Cameron also benefits from it for us say a little more about the plot of the film:
Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible situation. She’s hardened by it. She will do anything for them, even things we would consider bad. We didn’t want to be all black or all white. We are trying to evolve beyond the paradigm of Na’vi, all humans are bad, all Na’vi are good. These new Na’vi are traders, nomads. Like all Na’vi, they live in symbiosis with their creatures. If you have nautical blood in your veins, you’ll want to be on their ships.
The full interview with James Cameron can be found in the next issue of Empire. In the meantime, we leave you with these two new images:
