Fans of The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn 99 or The Office will be happy to know that a new sitcom-type comedy series, made in Romania, is being prepared for them.
At a time when the entertainment industry is constantly looking for fresh and sensational content, “Ten to Midnight” aims to break the mold and redefine impactful filmmaking through an effervescent satire of today’s society from the perspective of environmental efforts.
The series will be produced by the producer Alexandru Iliescu (Martini Shot), recognized for films like Miracle, Familiar, Unidentified, after a award winning screenplay at several international profile competitions made by screenwriter Monica S. Mantero (Skeleton Rain).
A unique vision
Although environmental issues have always been a favorite topic of documentary series, with the exception of the occasional drama or apocalyptic film, they have rarely found their way into prime time. Effectively weaving environmental themes into an engaging and funny narrative is a very difficult endeavor, which is why the multi-award-winning script went through many drafts until it found the perfect balance of humor and science.
How does “Ten to Midnight” differ from other projects trying to capitalize on the climate change media zeitgeist?
The concept has been in the works for over ten years, and the themes presented are based on the creator’s field adventures. The show is a genuine effort that doesn’t preach its message, but instead invites a multitude of different perspectives into the conversation, represented by characters from different backgrounds and cultures, as an honest representation of a new breed of superheroes that have, until now, been largely ignored by the film industry.
“We create a show that makes people laugh, but at the same time brings information, new perspectives and sparks as many conversations as possible” says the producer Alexandru Iliescuadding: “Comedy is a powerful storytelling tool that can inspire and educate a wide audience.”
“Ten to Midnight” aims to recreate the magic that turned series like Brooklyn 99, The Big Bang Theory or The Office into hits with millions of fans: crazy, lovable multidimensional and multinational characters with amazing chemistry, perfect timing for comedy and original stories. The international perspective brings a new angle to cross-cultural satire with the potential to resonate with a global audience and viewers of all ages.
“The concept of ‘Ten to Midnight’ is simple: as much as we love the Marvel movies, in the end the world will not be saved by superheroes, but by imperfect, ordinary people, people like any of us, who will realize that they are in extraordinary state of affairs”, explains the screenwriter Monica S. Mantero.
This revolutionary project will be filmed in Romania, a destination increasingly sought after by international productions due to its low costs and picturesque natural landscapes.
“Ten to Midnight” is more than a television event; it’s a call to action, the start of something exceptional. Because saving the planet doesn’t have to be a drama – it can be a comedy!
