The first electric lion went into circulation

The first electric MAN TGX in the colors of the Duvenbeck Group went into circulation. The company, which also handles Volkswagen’s logistics tasks, plans to operate the new vehicle primarily in the Rhine-Ruhr and BeNeLux shipping regions. The electric truck is expected to turn around the Wolfsburg factory many times in the future.

Duvenbeck plans to put at least 160 of this model into service by 2026. In other words, it becomes one of the main customers of eTGX. With its 950 mm saddle height and short wheelbase of 3.75 meters, the brand new tractor unit stands out among electric tractor units. It can even be used with semi-trailers that have an interior height of three meters.

Carriers can request the “electric lion” with 4, 5 or 6 battery packs. With a maximum number of energy storage packages, a range of 500 kilometers is available. Basically, it is offered with a standard CCS charging connector (up to a maximum of 375 kW), but it also meets the new megawatt charging (MCS) standard, so future customers can request it as well. MAN Truck&Bus does not buy batteries from suppliers, but produces them itself. This was a conscious decision on the part of the company from the very beginning.

MAN Truck&Bus announced in 2023 that sales of the eTGX had started. Megawatt charging was demonstrated with this vehicle for the first time in 2024. The Bavarian company is serious about the electric transition and calculates that by 2030 half of the trucks it sells will be electric. At the same time, the company is also winking at hydrogen propulsion. Last year, we had an exclusive opportunity to test the brand’s new wing test, the hTGX, which is primarily intended for terrain where electric charging infrastructure is not expected to be available for a long time.

MAN also presented the eTGL at the end of last year, which can travel 235 kilometers on a single charge and transport a maximum of 6,600 kilograms of goods. The “little brother” of the eTGX is therefore perfectly suitable for delivering fresh bread to the shops at dawn, because it won’t beat anyone up, as it offers a quiet mode.
