Like all manufacturers present in Europe, Hyundai will have to turn to massive electrification over the coming years. And this while Brussels will ban the sale of thermal and hybrid cars on its territory from 2035, apart from a few very rare exceptions. But the Korean firm will not have the right to do so.
A large SUV from Hyundai
After lifting the veil on its small city crossover, the Inster, the manufacturer is now preparing to present a completely different model, totally the opposite. And for good reason, Hyundai Motor Company today revealed the first images of its Ioniq 9a 100% electric 7-seater SUV which promises to redefine the brand’s top-of-the-range range and further affirm its commitment to the transition to electric mobility. This new model completes the Ioniq range, alongside the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, by joining a lineage which quickly convinced consumers It thus aims to mark a turning point for Hyundai, which wishes to become a key player in the electric vehicle market For the moment, the manufacturer is showing itself enough. not very talkative about its new model, but is already revealing a few images to whet our appetites. We can see small details, including its rims as well as its silhouette, which looks rather massive and imposing. . Because it will above all be abouta real family vehicleunsurprisingly offering plenty of space on board.
Not just in the USA
With an impressive length of over five meters, the Ioniq 9 is designed to offer generous interior space and a high level of comfort, essential features to appeal to its core customers: the North American market. However, although its design and dimensions are geared towards the United States, Hyundai has also confirmed that the model will be available in Europe, where demand for large-capacity electric vehicles is growing. This model uses the e-GMP platform, a modular architecture specially developed for electric vehicles, allowing versatile configurations and offering numerous advantages in terms of autonomy, performance and charging time. Like the Kia EV9, the Ioniq 9 should offer a high-performance technical configuration, with a battery with a capacity of around 100 kWh, allowing competitive autonomy. For the EV9, this battery allows a range of 563 kilometers, and we can expect similar figures for its Korean cousin. But we should know a little more in the coming weeks.
Indeed, the official reveal of this new electric SUV is scheduled for November. This launch comes during a particularly dynamic period for Hyundai, which recently reached an important milestone with the production of its 100 millionth vehicle worldwide.
