The first photos of Hyundai’s electric maxi SUV

After Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, Hyundai is ready to launch the Ioniq 9. The largest electric SUV in the Korean manufacturer’s range will be presented in November and we have the first teaser photos.

In these previews we can take a look at the shapes of the Asian maxi SUV (previously known as Ioniq 7), which will have a style strongly inspired by the Seven concept shown at the 2021 Los Angeles Motor Show and an architecture very similar to that of the Kia EV9 .

The first look

The first series of teaser images it shows the boxy shape of the Ioniq 9 and a number of details. The concept’s windward-opening doors have been eliminated, with the production model adopting a more traditional solution. However, we will find the pixel-style headlights, which already characterize the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.

The dimensions appear really important, with the Ioniq 9 it could be approximately 5 meters long and have a width close to 2 meters to give maximum space to the occupants (7-seater versions are available) and luggage. We also expect a lot technology on board and an extensive use of quality upholstery for what will in all respects be the company’s most complete and luxurious model ever, at least from an equipment point of view.

Base EV9

The Ioniq 9 will be based on the Group’s E-GMP platform, the same one that gives life to the EV9. Reasonably, batteries and engines will be very similar, with the Kia which – we remind you – mounts a 5000mAh battery 99,8 kWh with 800 V architecture for a declared autonomy in the combined WLTP cycle of 563 km. This data refers to the 203 HP model, while the more powerful 384 HP version has a range of 505 km.

In both cases, DC charging reaches 240 kW and V2L, vehicle-to-load functionality is present. THE prices of Hyundai should be aligned with those of the EV9 and start from around 75,000-80,000 euros. But we will know more in the coming weeks.
