Dexter: Original Sin is set in 1991.
The Paramount+ streaming service has released the first images of the Dexter: Original Sin prequel series, which will be shown in Finland on Skyshowtime. Formerly known as Dexter: Origins, the 10-episode first season takes place 15 years before Showtime’s Dexter original series.
The series stars Patrick Gibson in the title role as Dexter Morgan, Christian Slater as Dexter’s adoptive father, homicide detective Harry Morgan, and Molly Brown as Dexter’s sister, Debra Morgan.
Also included are Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson and Patrick Dempsey.
Clyde Phillips of the original series returns as showrunner and executive producer.
Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter’s transformation from a student to a vengeful serial killer. The official synopsis says the following:
“When Dexter can no longer control his bloodlust, he must learn to control his inner darkness. Under the guidance of his father Harry, he begins to follow a code of conduct that is meant to help him find and kill people who are a danger to society without attracting the attention of law enforcement. This is especially difficult for young Dexter when he begins his crime scene investigation as an intern at the Miami Metro Police Department”
All previous seasons of Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, which continued the original series, can be watched on SkyShowtime.
The premiere of the Dexter: Original Sin prequel series is not yet known.
