The first solar car goes on sale

A solar powered car will be on the market in a few months. The futuristic-looking solar car only reaches 65 kilometers a day with the help of sunlight charging, but that hasn’t stopped 48,000 drivers from ordering it in the US, where it will go on sale. The price starts at 35,000 USD, which is not too expensive.

The tricycle of the American company Aptera Motors recently went for a ride in San Francisco. As it says HAK magazinethe secret of this electric vehicle is that it weighs 65 percent less than other EVs, and due to its unique, aerodynamic design and reduced mass, the model only needs about 30 percent of the energy used by other electric vehicles. In sunny places, the car almost never needs to be plugged in, according to Aptera. When the car is charged, it should travel 600 kilometers with a full battery. Battery capacity is not known for now. The model is extremely light and has a very low air resistance (only 0.13). On the other hand, in practice it is difficult to obtain sufficient efficiency from a relatively small number of solar cells, but Aptera has confidence in its system. According to the company, the two-seater reaches a speed of 177 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in less than four seconds.

Although Aptera says that safety has not been spared, it is not a real car, but a tricycle that weighs no more than 800 kilograms with the smallest batteries. In order to quickly ensure a copy in Aptera to all drivers who ordered, they are looking for additional funds. This is not the first time. Namely, the company was started in 2005 and in the meantime it went bankrupt once, and there are probably security problems surrounding the possible European approval for Aptera.
