The first test drive of the new Mercedes CLA with the CEO of the company

Join Mercedes-Benz CEO Olli Kelenius for the first test drive of the highly anticipated all-new 2025 model year Mercedes CLA.

As stated, this is no ordinary reveal, but a glimpse into a secret, pre-production prototype that will redefine the future of driving.

Kelenius even removes part of the headlight cover to reveal the star-shaped daytime running lights in the headlights. The doors have frameless glass for a coupé feel, and the huge panoramic sunroof illuminates the darkly upholstered cabin.

Kelenius also shows the new AI voice assistant technology. It comes with MB.OS software that debuts on the CLA and helps you control the car’s functions to save you from the distraction of touchscreen menus.

“Every digital function you can imagine, you’ll probably find in this car,” Kelenius says proudly.

Built on the new electrified MMA platform, the new CLA will have both electric and hybrid versions.

We can expect an architecture of 800 volts and a charging speed of 250 kW that will enable a range of 400 km within just 15 minutes.

The concept car (shown last year) was normally powered by an electric motor with 175 kW/238 hp and provided a total driving range of around 750 km, although Mercedes will no doubt offer more power levels. We also recently learned that the hybrid version will get a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder made by China’s Geely.

The CLA prototype also broke the endurance record for an electric vehicle in a 24-hour drive at the Nardo track, covering 3,716.94 kilometers in that period. The prototype drove an average of 152 km/h. The previous record was set by Porsche in 2019, when a tested Taycan prototype traveled 3,425 km.
