The first year of the three-day Book Fair Brno will start today at the Brno Exhibition Center. More than a hundred Czech and foreign authors will perform in the program spread over four book and two comics halls.
Among the invited literati are, for example, British authors of thrillers and detective stories Daniel Cole and Tim Weaver or Czech literary stars Kateřina Tučková, Michal Viewegh and Jiří Hájíček.
A book fair has been held in Brno in the past, the exhibition center last hosted it in 2006. The World Book Fair in Prague and the Autumn Book Fair in Havlíčková Brod now rank among the largest similar events in the Czech Republic. The organizers of Kniha Brno want to establish a new tradition.
