For more than a month and a half, the forint has not left the 390-400 band against the euro, which the quote is right in the middle of, the individual events and data releases only brought temporary fluctuations. There is a kind of longer trend within the band, so the forint is gradually approaching 390, it is questionable whether it will be able to carry this through. This morning HUF 392 is 40 fils to the euro, which means a minimal weakening.
The dollar has been weakening since the end of June, the quotation has moved away from 1.08 against the euro and is already around 1.09. This morning we see a slight strengthening of the dollar, the quotation is slightly below 1.09. The forint thus weakens against the dollar, today one dollar costs 360 forints and 10 fils.
This week there will be several important events that can move the markets. For example, the figures of American retail trade will be published, but the most important event will be the interest rate decision of the European Central Bank on Thursday.
