While good resolutions flourish with the end of the year, French motorists want to move towards safer and environmentally friendly driving practices, according to recent data from Opinion Way for Bip & Go published on December 9, 2024 .
Unsafe practices persist
The study reveals that 65% of those questioned admit to engaging in at least one dangerous practice while driving. This trend is slightly higher among men (67%) than women (62%), led by driving without a break for more than two hours.
Beyond fatigue, other risky behaviors are common: 40% of drivers exceed speed limits to save time, and 16% use their phones while driving. These acts are complemented by more serious incidents, such as altercations on the road (21%) and drunken or aggressive driving (6%).

Resolutions for responsible conduct
For 2025, nearly 79% of motorists express the desire to change their behavior. Nine out of ten plan to plan their trips better to avoid unforeseen events and 77% plan to use mobile apps to monitor traffic and optimize their routes. Some are committing to reducing their speed and integrating public transportation more into their daily commute.
Safer driving is not the only goal, 77% of drivers are also ready to adopt eco-responsible practices to reduce their environmental impact. This includes the use of soft mobility such as bicycles, scooters and public transport, as well as simple actions such as turning off the engine during prolonged stops.
