The future is today. Transmission of electricity without cables is becoming a fact

Great news comes to us from overseas. Well, the DARPA agency, which deals with this on a daily basis designing futuristic technologies future for the needs of the US army, commissioned the arms company Raytheon to prepare a system that will make Nikola Tesla’s beautiful vision come true.

However, these are not visions of technology that will only be developed in decades. It is already available and even located during advanced testing. They are going surprisingly well. This technology is intended to enable wireless power supply of various electronic devices, i.e. without the need for cables.

This is a project with the apt name POWER. It assumes the construction of a small transmitter that could be installed on unmanned drones and enable transfer of large amounts of energy to power vehiclesdrones and other military equipment on the battlefield. Scientists explain that this is a revolution for the 21st century. Tests show that it is possible to send energy straight from space to the Earth’s surface and then to devices.

Let’s imagine that thanks to this technology we will never have to charge smartphones, cars or various everyday items again. We will be able to use even household appliances outside the home without having to worry about it we will not have access to the socket.

DARPA reports that Raytheon has two years to develop a prototype of the device for “capturing, transmitting and redirecting optical beams“Interestingly, the Pentagon is currently implementing other projects related to wireless energy transmission. Special space drones will transmit energy to Earth, taking it directly from orbital solar farms.

— During operations on the front, energy is not always available. Therefore, the ability to produce, store and redistribute it is crucial. “This technology is designed to enable our military to produce energy where it is safe and efficient to do so and easily distribute it to other platforms,” said Colin Whelan, president of advanced technologies at Raytheon.

The agency has already successfully tested such a system using the secret X-37B mini-shuttle. The Pentagon does not hide the fact that it wants to provide its army with unlimited access to electricity for its operation, even in the most difficult field conditions. The war in Ukraine shows that delivering fuel by tanker trucks to the front line is a misunderstanding, because such vehicles are massively destroyed by the enemy and it is difficult to ensure their safety.

Thanks to the direct transfer of energy to any device, it will finally be possible to build the first practical tanks armored vehicles equipped with electric engineswithout having to worry about installing gigantic and extremely heavy batteries.
