Zaniboni highlights first of all that cybercriminals no longer operate as individuals or in isolated groups, but follow a group “industrial” modelthat is, organized into real companies.

These criminal groups boast well-defined roles, consolidated business models and an active presence on the dark web. This organized approach has led to an increase in the sophistication of threats, starting from banking malware and arriving at the spread of ransomware-as-a-service.
According to ESET, 2025 will see confirmation of the spread of ransomware attacks with the integration of “EDR killers”that is, malware capable of disabling the protection functions of security tools.
The company also expects to see one in the coming months deregulation of social media and technology companieswith the consequence that low-quality AI-generated content, already present in 2024, will increase.

In 2025 they will grow fake profiles of celebrities and public figures on social media, supported by deepfake and other generated content. In this context, it will be even more important to resort to the use of authenticity verification tools.
“The evolution of technology must be accompanied by an increasingly safety-oriented approach. This means integrate IT protection from the early stages of solution design” explains Zaniboni.
To do this, companies will have to rely on platforms machine learningopen source solutions and support a closer collaboration with institutions. The technology will also have to be combined with 24/7 cybersecurity services that combine the power of AI with the experience of professionals.
“Companies that seize the opportunity to innovate without compromising security will be best prepared to thrive in an increasingly connected and digital future” concludes Zaniboni.
