The Game Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in the computer games industry. This year, five titles were nominated in the mobile games category, all of which are also available on iOS devices.
The following productions will compete for The Game Awards statuette for the best game for mobile devices this year:
- AFK Journey
- Balatro
- Pokémon TCG Pocket
- Wuthering Waves
- Zenless Zone Zero
This year’s list was dominated by freemium games, available for download from the App Store for free but offering optional micropayments. The only exception is Balatro – one of the biggest independent hits of recent months, available on iOS as a paid premium production and via the Apple Arcade service. This title also received four other nominations, in the categories of best game of the year, best director, best independent game and best independent debut.
The nominations were selected by a jury consisting of over 100 gaming websites and magazines from around the world (including the Polish CD-Action and Gry Online), but the selection of the final winners will also be influenced by audience voting. You can cast your votes on The Game Awards official website. The results will be announced on December 13.
