OLYMPIC GAMES – Red and gray. The banks of the Seine are changing color a week before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Starting at 5 a.m. this Thursday, July 18 and until the evening of July 26, certain areas of Paris will be accessible only to people with a digital pass.

Ce “game pass”a kind of QR Code, is to be requested on https://www.pass-jeux.gouv.fr. “Only this site is authorized to issue the game pass”warned the Paris Police Prefecture, in prevention of possible creation of fake sites. The pass is nominative, individual, non-transferable, and free. 800,000 requests have been made and 470,000 game passes have already been issued.

But who needs the precious sesame in the week before the ceremony? The police prefecture reminds that in the gray perimeter, pedestrians and cyclists must obtain a game pass while motorized access is prohibited except in exceptional cases, the list of which is given iciThis therefore concerns local residents, professionals and visitors.

Spectators attending the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will not need a pass on July 26, they will only need to show their ticket and an ID. The pass will however be mandatory in the days leading up to the party.

As for the red zones, pedestrian and cyclist access is free but motorized access is prohibited, except in exceptional circumstances. A site has been set up to find out if an address is within the relevant perimeter.

That’s not all. The pass will be required again for all motorized persons until August 11, for the entire duration of the Olympic Games near the competition sites (red zones). Then again between August 28 and September 8, during the Paralympic Games. A new communication is planned later for this purpose. There is no point in registering in advance, the request will not be taken into account if it does not concern the period before the opening ceremony.
