The Geforce RTX 5080 gets the fastest graphics memory to date

Sources for Wccftech states that Nvidia’s upcoming Geforce RTX 5080 will have the fastest graphics memory on the market at launch. According to the sources, the card will have 16 GB of graphics memory at a speed of 32 Gbps, which is slightly faster than the speculated memory speed of 28 Gbps for the RTX 5090, as well as bandwidth of 1 TB/s.

If the information is correct, it would mean that the RTX 5080 will have the fastest graphics memory on the market at launch. Compared to the previous generation Geforce RTX 4080 Super, this is a big step up, as that card has a memory speed of 23 Gbps and a bandwidth of 736 GB/s.

– Considering that the memory bandwidth went to waste between Geforce RTX 3080 and Geforce RTX 4080, it is nice to see a big boost on that front for the RTX 5000 series. Higher memory bandwidth can particularly benefit performance when gaming in high resolutions such as 4K UHD, says Jonas Thörnqvist, test editor at SweClockers.

Previously, we reported on other rumors surrounding the specifications of the RTX 5080, which say that the graphics card will have 10,752 CUDA cores and a power consumption of 400 W.

It is still unclear exactly when Nvidia will present the new graphics cards in the Geforce RTX 5000 series. Much points, however, to the fact that the cards will be shown at the CES fair in January, where Nvidia will hold a keynote.
