The GeForce RTX 5090 will be almost 50% more powerful than the GeForce RTX 4090

The GeForce RTX 5090 will be the successor to the GeForce RTX 4090, and will become the graphics card More powerful consumer market. Last June we shared with you a special article where we compiled all the information we had so far, including its possible specifications, price and release date, and today we have new data on its possible performance.

If the specifications I told you at the time are confirmed, the GeForce RTX 5090 will be up to 68% more powerful than the GeForce RTX 4090 in FP32, but as you already know, the performance in games does not have to be directly equivalent to the power in simple precision. By this I mean that the difference between both in games should be smaller, that’s why I told you that in rasterization the new top of the range could be up to 40% more powerful.

A new rumor says that the GeForce RTX 5090 will perform up to 48% faster than the GeForce RTX 4090 in games, a fact that fits with what I have been telling you so far, and that makes a lot of sense if we talk about rasterization. In ray tracing, the difference in favor of the former should be much greater, thanks to the use of new cores to accelerate ray tracing and the jump to GDDR7 memory, which will allow it to achieve greater bandwidth.

GeForce RTX 5090 frente a NVIDIA TITAN RTX Blackwell

Another rumor has also surfaced that says NVIDIA is working on a new TITAN RTX Blackwell, and claims that said graphics card will be 63% more powerful than the GeForce RTX 4090. If this is confirmed, it will also be 15% more powerful than the GeForce RTX 5090a small difference that could however translate into a large difference in price.

It should be remembered that NVIDIA also had a TITAN RTX Ada Lovelace in development. This was real, it existed but never reached the marketand it was not used to shape a GeForce RTX 4090 Ti either, probably because the green giant realized that it was unnecessary given the market conditions, and AMD has never had anything with which to compete with the GeForce RTX 4090 in terms of power.

What I mean by this is that the NVIDIA TITAN RTX Blackwell may exist, but it may never reach the market and may only serve as a reference for the design of a GeForce RTX 5090 Ti. We’ll see what happens as the launch of this new generation of NVIDIA cards takes place, which is expected to start arriving between late 2024 and early 2025.
