The general answers the question whether in the next 5 years a Russia-NATO war may break out

According to him, Russia is currently using various methods, including provocations and sabotage against NATO countries, the Unian portal writes.

Could the Baltic countries attack?

“We remember arson or explosions in various European countries, especially in the Baltic states, Germany, and Poland. Obviously, they will use such methods. As for large-scale military strikes on Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, this is unlikely. “NATO countries are guided by the fact that Russia poses a threat to the bloc, and an attack on one country will lead to the use of all countermeasures, first of all, an immediate response in the field of military operations”, emphasized M. Malomužas.

He reminded that powerful NATO military bases, airfields for strategic bombers, a military contingent of rapid reaction forces, and air defense systems are deployed in the Baltic countries.

“So it won’t be that easy. If we talk about the modern period, Russia is already deeply entrenched in Ukraine and is using its main but last large reserves,” said the former intelligence chief.

At the same time, M. Malomuž added that Russia still has reserves and advantages in certain areas, but now going to war with NATO countries would be “like death” for it. He is convinced that Russia will not be able to start a full-scale war against a huge bloc that has 5th and 6th generation weapons. According to him, in this case, one should take into account not the fact that Russia has many people, but the fact that missiles more powerful than ATACMS will be used against the aggressor country.

Already have to ask North Korea and Iran for help

“Today, Russia, exhausted by war and economic sanctions, will not be able to fight with NATO countries even after 5 years. It already has to ask for missiles from North Korea and Iran,” emphasized M. Malomužas.

The expert added that Ukraine is very powerful in weakening Russia’s potential and thus protecting EU and NATO countries.

As previously reported by the “Unian” portal, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius hinted that in a few years Russia may attack NATO territory. At the same time, he emphasized that an attack from Russia is not expected now. B. Pistorius noted that Russia now produces more weapons and ammunition in a few months than all EU countries put together in a year.

According to him, by 2029 or 2030 V. Putin could strengthen the army so that Russia would be able to strike NATO. Therefore, the bloc should be prepared for the possibility that V. Putin may try to test NATO cohesion by invading some part of the Alliance’s territory in the coming years.
