Metz televisions were already available here, now the brand is officially joining us. The portfolio includes TVs with QLED and OLED screens or MiniLED backlighting. Smart TV is powered by Google. It intends to impress not only the price, it also has an 86″ QLED in the offer.
“The Czech consumer electronics market, including televisions, is mature and highly competitive. Despite this, or because of this, we see new opportunities for the brand in this market Metzwhich in its design-attractive TVs brings top and advanced technologies on the popular Google TV platform at an affordable price. Ultimately, our entry into the market can benefit the end consumer who now has more choices.” he says Amanda GuanMetz e-commerce director for Europe and America.
The history of the Bavarian brand Metz dates back to 1938, when it was founded by Paul Metz (†1993). The company started producing televisions in 1955, color ones in 1967. In 1990, it introduced televisions with a 100Hz screen, followed by LCD, plasma and a television with an integrated hard disk.
In 2014, however, the company ended in insolvency. The TV part of the company was taken over by the Chinese company Skyworth under the Metz Consumer Electronics brand. Premium models (Metz Classic) are still produced in Germany, those for regular users (Metz Blue) already use the production capacity of their owner.
For example, the originally Dutch television brand Philips, which today is manufactured by TP Vision (the P in the word TP stands for Philips), has a similar fate. Or the originally German Grundig has been owned by the Turkish company Arçelik since 2007.
Metz Classic includes, for example, Calea, Fineo or Aurus TVs. The most expensive model sold on Alza (86MQE8000) also belongs to Metz Blue.
