The doctors at the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital in Bucharest had to amputate the leg of the girl injured in the road accident which took place on Sunday evening on the road of the Căţelu Station, in the outer parking lot of the Pantelimon Park.
“Unfortunately, a few hours after the replantation operation, complications arose during the evening due to the crushing syndrome suffered as a result of the accident, complications that put his life in danger.
So it was decided, urgently, to remove the affected lower limb”, explained the spokesperson of the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital, Raluca Alexandru, according to Agerpres.
The girl’s condition is stable
The girl’s condition is stable, slightly improved compared to the previous day, being still intubated and mechanically ventilated. “Today, the girl’s condition is stable, slightly improved compared to yesterday. She is still intubated and mechanically ventilated”, said the doctor.
Representatives of the children’s hospital stated that the seven-year-old girl was brought by SMURD in serious condition, intubated and mechanically ventilated with a quasi-amputation of her left leg, from the thigh level.
Immediately after the accident, the doctors immediately entered the operating room, with a multidisciplinary team consisting of an anesthetist, orthopedist, surgeons specialized in vascular surgery and plastic surgery, to replant the leg. The femoral artery and all the structures – bone (numerous fractures), muscles, integument – were restored, the doctors said. The operation lasted 9 hours. Later, however, complications arose.
From the first information, a 9-year-old boy and his 7-year-old sister went out together with their mother in Pantelimon Park. At one point, when they were in the parking lot next to the park, the children were hit by a car, in which there were two young people, the driver (17 years old) and his friend (19 years old).
The girl’s brother died on the spot
The rescuers performed resuscitation maneuvers on the 9-year-old boy, but the doctors found his death. The young people ran away from the scene of the accident, but were caught by the police, after the investigators watched the recordings of the video cameras in the area.
After being caught, the 17-year-old driver was tested with the Alcooltest and DrugTest machines, the indicated results being 0 and negative, respectively. He was detained for 24 hours, and a magistrate issued a 30-day arrest warrant in his name. The passenger on the right was also detained by the police, but he was placed under judicial control for 60 days.
