Our campaign, “The spikes and disappointments of the decade for Dinamo and FCSB”, consumed its first part in the past few days, when you could pick post by post the nightmarish evolutions of the red and whites of the last ten years.
We move on to the disappointments of recent history at FCSB and start with the goalkeepers, of course. From the 5 nominations below, choose the winner in the first 11 nightmare in the poll at the end of the article. At the end of the campaign, the duel between the original Dinamo vs FCSB teams awaits us!
Cătălin Straton: came reserve, left reserve, almost two goals conceded per match!
Despite the fact that he had defended for Rapid and Dinamo, the great rivals, Cătălin Straton arrived at FCSB in 2020 to fulfill, according to boss Gigi Becali, the backup role of Andrei Vlad. And the truth is that Straton defended only 8 matches until 2022! Without impressing, without attacking at least once with real chances the starting role.
And among his eight appearances we have a 0-2 with Slovan Liberec in the Europa League preliminaries but also an unbelievable 2-5 at Poli Iași. In total, 14 goals conceded, an average of almost two per game, so much for FCSB’s claims!
Martin Bogatinov: Netflix script in the “horror with ghosts” category
One of the strangest transfers of the decade at FCSB, regardless of position. He came in January 2014 for a salary of 10,000 euros, previously refused by Oțelul Galați!, given that Ciprian Tătăruşanu, Florin Niță and Valentin Cojocaru were registered as goalkeepers in the team.
And, at 28 years of age, he stayed at FCSB until July 2014 without ticking off a single minute in the red-blue shirt! Netflix script for the North Macedonian Martin Bogatinov. He came free of contract, he left for free, a tourist through our football but at the highest level.
Andrei Vlad: from the “Messi of goalkeepers” to the back door
Romania’s holder at EURO U21 in 2021, the year he made his debut for our senior national team!, Andrei Vlad was considered one of the great hopes of the new generation of Romanian goalkeepers. Rushed to FCSB in 2014 from the University of Craiova, he was promoted, tenured and used constantly. Up to a point. The blunders and inconsistency then turned him into a reserve for seasons in a row, completely out of favor with the boss.
He finally left the team this winter, free of contract, a scenario hard to imagine a few years ago when Gigi Becali considered him the “Messi of goalkeepers” and imagined millions of euros flowing into the accounts after an illusory sale. Andrei Vlad, only 7 official matches in the last two seasons at FCSB. Sad.
Tom Niga. Talent, investment, public promises, zero goals.
In the summer of 2017, FCSB was paying 30,000 euros for a young goalkeeper considered to have great perspective. Toma Niga, from Foresta Suceava. Gigi Becali quickly placed him in the category, as he described it: “young goalkeepers that I want to take money” and “I say give these kids a chance, that’s why you took them”.
Well, Niga was FCSB’s player in papers until 2022, but he didn’t defend a single minute for the team! He was loaned to Academica Clinceni or FC Hermannstadt. Later, he didn’t bring any money: he left for free, returning to Foresta, and since last year he has been a reserve at Poli Iași. Zero objectives completed.
Cristian Balgradean
The arrival of Cristian Bălgrădean at FCSB in 2018, after seasons, among others, at the great rival Dinamo or at the University of Craiova, was received from the start as an unexpected move. What was supposed to become a solution, however, turned into a case with incredible accusations!
In March 2020, Gigi Becali revealed that the Bălgrădean, who was to be free from his contract in the summer, had already signed with CFR Cluj, secretly, although he was still playing for FCSB. And he suspected that he had intentionally made a mistake in a Botoșani vs FCSB game in that play-off! The goalkeeper was fired immediately, following the inevitable disputes at the commissions.
In the 2018-2020 period, the Balgrădean did not win anything for FCSB, he appeared in 73 matches and later admitted that he “morally wronged” the FCSB patron.
Find out and vote for FCSB’s nightmare defenders tomorrow on ProSport!
The transfer period this winter focuses the attention of all clubs in the Superliga, and for the most beloved of them, Dinamo and FCSB, the recent past must represent a useful mirror.
ProSport started the campaign “The spikes and disappointments of the decade for Dinamo and FCSB” in which you choose, from our nominations, the first 11 of bitterness for each of the two teams. Then we’ll put them face to face!
If last year we made up together dream formations for Dinamo (discover here) and for FCSB (find out here)now is the time to remember what was more difficult, hoping that maybe the leaders of the clubs will avoid such experiences!
The “spikes” and disappointments of the decade for Dinamo and FCSB
The reference interval is represented by the last 10 years for Dinamo and FCSB. For each team we nominated 5 goalkeepers, 15 defenders, 15 midfielders and 15 forwards. You will discover them one by one in the following days, with the presentation of each nomination.
I have nominated as “spikes” and disappointments either footballers who were paid considerable sums and failed to deliver, or players with a background that created huge expectations but failed miserably. Both names who played a lot and without performances, as well as footballers who only played two or three games, although the stands, managers and coaches expected them to have an important impact.
You will vote for 24 hours, only on ProSportin the polls at the end of each material, what is the biggest “peg” or disappointment on each station.
The goalkeeper with the highest number of votes will become the starting XI in the first nightmare. For the other ten positions in the team we will count the players who have collected the most votes from the public, but with a maximum of 5 defenders and a maximum of 3 forwards, so that the first 11 is a plausible one as a game system.
Here is the campaign calendar:
