It will soon be time for the current generation of GoPro Hero to arrive, which, if they follow the previous traditions, will be able to wear the number 12. In this regard, some information has now been leaked, based on which we can prepare for a serious leap compared to the 11 versions.

The new specifications include, for example, the 1-inch diagonal CMOS sensor, which will bring an advantage especially in low light conditions compared to the previous 1/1.9″ sensor, but is expected to mean an increased dynamic range and lower noise even under normal conditions. The specifications of the recordings that can be recorded include 8K@60fps and 4k@240fps, although the former may be an interpolation, as the rumors say the sensor resolution is 30 Mpixels, which is not enough for full 8K (7680×4320 is 33, 18 megapixels). In any case, even if 8K is not available, the higher resolution will definitely come in handy for digital image stabilization and other similar tricks. A new SoC will hopefully be deployed to handle the increased amount of data.

The arrival date of the GoPro Hero 12 is promised to be September 15, which seems relatively realistic if we take previous data as a basis – the Hero 11, for example, was presented on September 14, 2022.
