The government in Iceland has collapsed. Early elections will probably take place in November – World – News

Iceland’s coalition government, which has been in power since November 2021, fell apart due to disagreements on policy issues. New elections will probably be held in November, Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson announced, reported the AFP agency monitored by the TASR agency.

Benediktsson clarified that the disagreements between the three parties of the government coalition concern several areas – “from foreign policy issues to the issue of asylum seekers”.

He added that he will meet with President Halla Tómasdóttir in the foreseeable future and present her with a proposal to dissolve parliament and call early parliamentary elections.

According to the RUV public television, which referred to the Prime Minister’s statement, the parliamentary elections should be held on November 30.
