The Government of Israel accuses Spain of having become “a paradise for sowing hatred”

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers it “unacceptable” that a democratic society “allows the glorification of terrorism” and that Spain has become “a paradise for sowing hatred and inciting the destruction” of Israel, while the Embassy has also rejected that this “apology for terrorism” is allowed.

This was stated after the demonstrations that took place in several Spanish cities – and around the world – this weekend to call for an end to the massacre in Gaza, which has already left 42,000 murdered. Madrid, which on Saturday brought together 20,000 people according to the organizers – no more than 5,000 according to the Government Delegation – has hosted a new protest this Sunday, less numerous, with nearly half a thousand participants.

In both cases, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of this country have censored through their profiles on the social network X that the march has been promoted by several pro-Palestinian associations.

The largest demonstration this Sunday took place in Barcelona, where thousands of people – 4,500 according to the Urban Guard and 30,000 according to the organization – have demanded that the “genocide” in Palestine stop, and have demanded that the Government break relations with Israel and do not sell weapons to it. The protesters, many of them carrying Palestinian flags or wearing the traditional kufiya scarf, have chanted slogans such as ‘Boycott Israel’, ‘Where are the sanctions against Israel, not seen’, ‘Israel murders, Europe sponsors’, ‘ Generalitat, prou complicitat’ or ‘It is not a war, it is a genocide’.

There have also been demonstrations in defense of Palestine in Malaga, Bilbao, Gijón, Santiago de Compostela and Palma de Mallorca.

The Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has spoken about the conflict in Gaza, stating that it is “perverse and unfair” to ask Israel “to allow itself to be annihilated” and not respond to the terrorist attacks.

For her part, the second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, of Sumar, has asked the international community to impose “the maximum sanctions now” because “there is no time to lose,” after the latest bombings in Lebanon.

“The Netanyahu regime continues its campaign of systematic violation of international law: an invasion to the north, a genocide to the south,” he lamented in a message on the social network X.

This request has been joined by the leader of Podemos, Ione Belarra, who has stressed that “democrats around the world have to stop the genocidal State and make the elites of Europe and the US respond by supporting it.”
