the government recalls the importance of saving energy

This campaign is a continuation of the energy sobriety plan launched in 2022, in the midst of the energy crisis. It aims to prevent a recovery in energy consumption, while supporting the country in its transition to more sustainable energy sources. Olga Givernet, Minister Delegate for Energy, recalled that every gesture counts in this fight against energy waste.

Energy sobriety: the government recalls the importance of maintaining good habits

Two years after the launch of the energy sobriety plan, France is recording encouraging results, with a 12% reduction in its energy consumption, gas and electricity combined. This reduction, achieved despite the energy crisis linked to the reduction in Russian gas deliveries and the shutdown of numerous nuclear reactors, constitutes a success that the government wishes to perpetuate. The risk of power cuts, as in the winter of 2022, now seems to have passed, but the challenge is to make these efforts a national habit. Olga Givernet stressed that the French have already demonstrated their ability to adopt responsible practices, and that it is essential to maintain this trajectory to gradually free ourselves from fossil fuels.

The “Every gesture counts” campaign uses humorous clips to remind the French of simple gestures to adopt on a daily basis, such as reducing the use of electrical appliances or optimizing heating. These messages are broadcast on radio and television in a guilt-free spirit. The idea is to motivate without moralizing, by showing that actions within everyone’s reach can have a significant impact on energy consumption.

Round tables to exchange best practices

During the “Energy Sobriety Meetings”, which were held on the same day at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, companies and real estate players participated in round tables to discuss the adaptation of business strategies and behaviors in the residential sector. Two round tables were organized: “From the urgency of the energy crisis to business strategy” and “Supporting changes in behavior in the residential sector”.

These discussions made it possible to strengthen the dialogue between the different actors involved in the energy transition, with the aim of ensure that this reduction in energy consumption continues beyond economic crises.
