An Estonian entrepreneur is not only ready, but also wants to invest in the country’s security, said Ain Hanschmidt, vice-chairman of the Estonian Employers’ Confederation and head of Infortar, reports Postman.
According to Hanschmidt, the right keywords were used in the coalition talks: defence, competitiveness, public finances, industrial policy. In addition, the predictability of decisions and the reduction of waste were emphasized. “These are important things, they really matter for the entrepreneur,” Hanschmidt confirmed.
He noted that entrepreneurs are looking for new goals and markets, economic growth, as well as innovation and ambition instead of regulation and stagnation.
“To treat a long-term and severe recession, it is not enough to just take a few antibiotics; it is necessary to develop a comprehensive program that includes export support, provision of cheap, stable and local energy, as well as protecting the interests of people along with environmental protection,” the entrepreneur emphasized.
“The only thing that creates added value, especially in a small country like ours, is export. It cannot be taxed, it must be supported in every possible way and our entrepreneurs must be helped,” he added.
“As for taxes, in today’s situation I believe that the Estonian entrepreneur is not only ready, but also willing to invest in the security of Estonia. This is an investment in his own security,” Hanschmidt said, noting that the government must be careful and not overdo it with new taxes, as this could slow down the recovery of the economy, which is already in a fragile state.
“Entrepreneurs also expect the state to invest in exports and make balanced and considered decisions in the field of energy and green policy. These are also investments in the country’s security and the sustainability of the state,” he concluded.
