“In two and a half years, RuStore has surpassed the American AppStore in terms of audience, the number of installations of the store has reached 80 million devices, and 50 thousand applications are already available,” Shadayev said. According to him, about 30% of applications in the Russian store are foreign; they were downloaded by developers from China, Japan and the CIS countries.
The minister noted that RuStore is popular because it allows you to download applications from Russian banks and other programs “that are currently not available in foreign analogue stores.” “Over the year, users downloaded applications and games more than 300 million times. Today we can confidently and confidently say that together with VK and the industry, we managed to create a successful and high-quality product from scratch, in which both users and businesses are interested,” Shadayev emphasized.
RuStore, which is developed by VK, is available on devices with Android, Harmony OS and Aurora operating systems. At the beginning of December, a representative of the application store told RB.RU that developers from China in January-November invested more than 60 million rubles in promoting games on the site. According to RuStore, in-store advertising spending by Chinese game studios in the third quarter increased fivefold compared to the first quarter, and the average bill increased by 40%.
In November, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin said that the Russian authorities were negotiating with Apple about pre-installing RuStore on the iPhone. The deputy emphasized that the American company “is itself interested in the appearance of RuStore on its gadgets.”
Gorelkin co-authored a bill that would oblige Apple and other technology manufacturers to reinstall RuStore on devices sold in Russia. State Duma accepted its first reading on November 13. Deputies had until December 12 to submit amendments to the second reading. The document was not considered in the second reading.
