The health condition of children with diphtheria is now stable

The health condition of children sick with diphtheria is stable, but for now they must remain under medical supervision, the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (CCUH) told LETA.

As a hospital representative stated Datse Shevchenkochildren can be discharged from the hospital in about two weeks.

Commenting on the information that was released on Monday about slander against doctors on social networks, Shevchenko promised that in connection with the “violence against doctors of the DKUB,” the hospital would file a complaint with the State Police, the Health Inspectorate, and other law enforcement agencies.

Earlier it was reported that the police detained parents who took two children with diphtheria from the hospital, and the children were taken to the hospital.

The State Police explained that they received a statement from the hospital that on Friday, September 20, a woman, contrary to doctors’ orders, took her two children from the hospital, who had diphtheria, had complications, and were prescribed mandatory treatment in the hospital.

In connection with the incident, the police have opened a criminal case. On Saturday morning, the State Police officers managed to establish the whereabouts of the children. In connection with the fact that the Orphan’s Court made a decision to terminate parental custody, the incident was reported to the Orphan’s Court.

It was previously reported that a four-year-old boy died after contracting diphtheria on September 16. The boy had not been vaccinated against diphtheria.
