Due to the heat, HungaroMet Zrt. issued the highest red level warning for five counties until midnight on Wednesday, and for three counties until midnight on Thursday. They indicated: there may be thunderstorms in some places on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the danger signal of the meteorological service, it was informed: until midnight on Wednesday, a red warning was issued for the counties of Bács-Kiskun, Békés, Csongrád-Csanád, Hajdú-Bihar and Pest, and until midnight on Thursday, due to the heat, in the counties of Bács-Kiskun, Békés and Csongrád-Csanád. In the affected counties, the average daily temperature can be above 29 degrees Celsius.
In addition, the counties of Baranya, Fejér, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Komárom-Esztergom, Somogy, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Tolna until midnight on Wednesday, and Baranya, Fejér, Hajdú-Bihar, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Komárom-Esztergom, Pest until midnight on Thursday , Somogy, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Tolna counties, a second-level warning was issued due to the expected high average temperature. According to the warning forecast of HungaroMet Zrt., the average daily temperature may drop below 27 degrees in a larger area in the Northern Central Mountains and in some places in the western part of Transdanubia, but elsewhere it typically exceeds this value. However, an average value of 29 degrees is still expected in the country, mostly in the southern and eastern parts of the Great Plain.
On Wednesday, mainly in the line of the Danube and to the east of it, thunderstorms may form in greater numbers, and in the late afternoon and early evening hours, there is a small chance that a cell may drift into the Alpokalja. These may be accompanied by stormy gusts of wind, hail and intense precipitation, and local downpours may also occur, primarily in the northern and northeastern regions.
Thunderstorms are expected to decrease at night, but they may still occur in the morning, especially in the Great Plains. During the day on Thursday, it may develop mostly in the central part of the country, and a few, expectedly not violent, thunderstorms may drift over the southeastern and eastern border regions. UV–B radiation remains very high throughout the country.
