The highway Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad will be completed in six years

During yesterday’s tour of the works on the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić, accompanied by Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, said that this important infrastructure project will be completed within six years.

The value of the project is 1.5 billion eurosand the construction of the first bridge on this route is just beginning.

According to the minister, the works will be completed within 72 months, and the Chinese company “Shandong High-Speed” and Serbian construction companies are working on the project jointly. Vesić emphasized that the project was concluded on a “turnkey” basis, which means that there will be no additional work.

The minister particularly emphasized the importance of the Chinese company working on this project, rating it as one of the highest quality companies in the construction sector. This company is currently working on two more large infrastructure projects in Serbia, finishing the highway to Valjevo and starting work on the southern ring road around Valjevo.

In addition, Vesić said that this year, according to the plan, “Shandong High-Speed” should open 23 km of the Danube Corridor to traffic, but he is convinced that about 35 km will actually be completed. Next year, the Danube Corridor to Golupac will be completed 10 months before the agreed deadline.

The minister expressed his gratitude to the Chinese company, not only for the successful implementation of the projects, but also for their support for the education of local experts. The company was the first to respond to the invitation of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure to finance professional practice for students of civil engineering, mechanical engineering and architecture.

Vesić also noted that all construction works in Serbia are carried out in accordance with European standards, and that they are so-called smart highways. These roads integrate the latest technologies and enable advanced communication with vehicles, thus increasing traffic safety and efficiency.
