At the beginning of the week, half the world paid attention to the presentation of Apple’s new iPhones – based on the feedback so far, the new devices have been received differently in different regions of the world, so for example in China, not much good can be predicted for the new arrivals without Apple Intelligence. It is hardly a coincidence that the local national hero, Huawei, rising from its ashes, timed the presentation of the foldable Mate XT a few hours after the iPhone presentation.
The device, about which the Chinese have already leaked almost everything in recent weeks, is indeed a kind of engineering feat, as it is equipped with two hinges, so it can actually be used in three formats (one-third, two-thirds and fully unfolded) in accordance with the current user environment.

94 percent of cyber attacks start with an email, so endpoint protection is of utmost importance, especially if several employees work remotely.
The flexible OLED display thus offers 6.4, 7.9 and 10.2-inch screen diagonals – the latter already corresponds to the display sizes of a medium-large tablet. All this is accompanied by a record thin design, the thickness of the fully unfolded mobile phone is only 3.6 millimeters, i.e. it cannot be called Bumford even when fully folded – although the camera island still protrudes a few extra millimeters from the mobile phone. In addition, a three-cell battery with a total capacity of 5600 mAh was also included in this size, which offers 66-watt wired and 50-watt wireless fast charging.
The Mate XT is equipped with a minimum of 256 GB of storage space and 16 GB of operational memory, and the computing capacity – including AI capabilities – is provided by the company’s own designed Kirin chip. The most interesting details about the chip are not the computing power and other parameters, but the fact that this chip is already entirely made in China, which is another jab from Huawei to the United States, which has kept the company at bay with various trade embargoes since 2019.
Despite all its technological feats, Huawei’s new product will not be a real mass product, not only because it will probably never be released outside of China. Huawei has practically priced the device into outer space, so the starting price is 19,999 Chinese yuan, which corresponds to slightly more than one million forints at the daily exchange rate – therefore the 256 GB basic model can be purchased, compared to this, the top 1 TB model costs 23,999 yuan ( approx. HUF 1.21 million) doesn’t seem so expensive anymore.
According to Vmall, which handles pre-orders, the device received 3.7 million purchase pre-registrations before the announcement – even then without knowing the price.
