– We are convinced that the visit of the Honvéd Men’s Corps will not only raise the standard of the festive events, but also contribute to the further development of Hungarian-Chinese friendly relations – Máté Pesti, Hungary’s ambassador to Beijing, wrote in his invitation letter. Richard Riederauer faculty director was happy to say yes to the ambassador’s request, because, as he said, the men’s faculty, as Hungary’s largest professional men’s faculty, proudly represents his country at important diplomatic events anywhere in the world. He is confident that the concerts will not only enhance the international reputation of Hungarian culture, but also contribute to the strengthening of Hungarian-Chinese relations.
Tour in several cities in China
It gives me great pleasure that the men’s corps of the Honvéd Együttes, a member of the Prima Primissima award-winning Honvéd Együttes, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, represents our Hungarian national values in China, organized by the Liszt Institute in Beijing
– said Zoltán Zsuráfszky, Artist of the Nation, Kossuth Prize-winning artistic director and managing director of the group. “Dance and music are universal languages that are understood all over the world, so during our travels we can speak to the people living there in our mother tongue, Hungarian, during our travels, which is a huge gift,” he added.
At the men’s choir’s first concert, held at the Beijing National Opera House, Ferenc Liszt performed his choral cycle Four Elements and the men’s choral piece A kovacs with Thiago Bertoldi’s piano solo. The event was opened by Anna Lujza Honecz, Cultural Attache of the Hungarian Embassy in Beijing, Director of the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center. After that, the ensemble traveled to Chengdu and then to Chungking, where they performed two more opera galas on the occasion of the anniversary.
The tour has symbolic significance, as the culture, Hungarian music and Hungarian spirit conveyed by the artists of the men’s choir reached the heart of China. This visit is an important step in building cultural dialogue and friendly relations between the two countries, which lays the foundation for deeper cooperation and mutual understanding for the future.
