What David Popovici said after the great success
After the semi-final of the 200 meters freestyle, David Popovici spoke about his goalsbut also about the emotions they face every time.
“The only goal I had for today was to qualify for the grand final. I qualified first, it wasn’t an easy race but nobody said it had to be easy.
The audience is incredible, I’ve been to the Olympic Games before, but during the pandemic there was no audience. I’m glad that now I see what the audience at the Olympics means.
Swimming, which in our country is not such a popular sport, fills such an arena, this is a stadium. It overwhelms me, it motivates me, it scares me, it excites me.
I’m also scared of the same things that scare you. Fortunately, I have quite a bit of experience competing at this level.
I’m human, many things scare me. Being here, at this level, you feel alive. This fear makes you feel like you’re alive,” said David Popovici.
