The Hungarians come to Romania with high hopes and Paksi’s coach proves his attachment to the Hungarian club! “I would never give my team the Corvinul”

Winner of the Romanian Cup from last season, Corvinul Hunedoara, made one of the big surprises of the first round of the Europa League preliminaries. Corvinul passed in the round match against the vice-champion of Hungary, Paksi, score 0-4, and the reactions of the neighbors in the west of Romania not being the best.

Visibly disturbed by the fact that they were defeated by a divisional second, those from Paksi, together with the press from Hungary, launched a real attack on the team from Hunedoara. However, Corvinul proved on the field that he deserves his place in the second round, and on the return he has to fulfill a simple formality.

“Our team is better”

The trainer from Paksi, Gyorgy Bognar, is of the opinion that the formation he trains is much more valuable than the group from Hunedoara, but the game in the round match of the group prepared by Florin Maxim must be appreciated: “I received a slap last week. We have to play to get rid of this feeling. There will certainly be one or two changes to the starting line-up. I’d be happy if we won, which is the game I want to see. even after 0-4, I still say that our team is better. I would never give Paksi for Corvinul, but at the same time the game of the opponent from Paks deserves respect”, the Hungarian coach also stated in the media from Hungary.

Bognar’s statements come in the context where Paksi managed to finish the previous season in the Hungarian first division in an admirable 2nd place, below the champion Ferencvaros, but above teams with much higher claims, such as Academia Puskas or MOL Vidi (Fehervar). In fact, another factor that led to Gyorgy Bognar’s comments are the considerable amounts of money invested in Hungarian football in recent years, much more than those in Romania.

Corvinul, with a step in the second preliminary round of the Europa League

The fight remains on the field, where Corvinul Hunedoara proved that it is better than Paksi, the game in the round match of the team coached by Florin Maxim being delightful. Lacking mistakes and with a special collective spirit, the Transylvanian group can take an important step for football in Romania. The four-goal difference of the team from Hunedoara will be difficult for Paksi to reach, but the concentration should not be lacking for the players from the second echelon.

The qualification is played today, in Sibiu, at the Municipal stadium in the city, and the start time of the return match between Corvinul and Paksi is 21.00.
