The legendary agent with a license to kill, i.e. James Bond, is dead. At least in the series of films with Daniel Craig, whose agent 007 perished in the last film No Time to Die from 2021. This, of course, means the traditional change of post to the position of the main role in this famous series, and the ice is finally starting to break in this direction. Casting for the new James Bond begins.

When Daniel Craig took on the role of the new agent 007, there was a wave of resentment because he was said to be unsuitable for the role. Very sharp features, too rough, not very charming and not at all an elegant seducer of women. But already the first film, the famous Casino Royale, took the wind out of the sails of all doubters and Craig eventually emerged as one of the best Bonds in history.
Between the summers of 2006 and 2021, we saw a total of five films in which this blond British actor played the famous agent, and almost immediately after the last act (No Time to Die) was finished, speculation began as to who could replace him. Will it be a woman? Or perhaps someone more exotic, such as an African-American? The producers have finally come to their senses after years and the hunt for the new Bond begins.

Casting for James Bond started
The producer duo Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have the main say in who will play James Bond. They, through EON Productions, own the rights to the entire brand and are the ones who determine the direction the franchise will take. The two producers spoke to the British server about the new Bond The Independent and it looks like something is finally starting to happen.
The pair confirmed in the interview that the casting for the new 007 agent has already started and that they are looking for someone in their thirties, plus or minus a few years, and not necessarily white. Seeing Bond in his thirties could be interesting, and it’s a nod to Sean Connery, who started the series at 32 as an aviator. Most of the actors in the role of Bond started in their forties (Roger Moore even at the age of 45).

Who are the biggest favorites?
The age of around 30 years excludes some of the biggest favorites of recent times, i.e. Idris Elba (52 years old), Tom Hardy (47 years old) and Henry Cavill (41 years old). On the other hand, another possible representative, 34-year-old Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is still in the game. The actor must of course be of British origin, the London Underground does not pass through it, and it is also interesting to note that he does not have to be white.
So it is quite possible that we will really see the first 007 agent with a dark skin color, and that would certainly not be out of the question. Each new Bond representative gives the series a completely different charge, a different direction and a completely different tone, and it will certainly be interesting to see where the producers go in this next phase. But when we will see a new film with James Bond, that is unfortunately in the stars for now.
