The Icelandic Financial Agency chooses Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer to accelerate technological modernization

Fjársýsla Ríkisins, the Financial Agency of Iceland, has migrated its critical databases to Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer as part of a wider digital innovation initiative to consolidate and modernize its technology infrastructure.

The shift to a database environment in the cloud can enable Fjársýsla Ríkisins to reduce costs and accelerate the development of new digital services for government departments, public sector entities and citizens.

Advania, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, handles this implementation as a supplier of managed services.

Fjársýsla Ríkisins provides financial services to the Icelandic Ministry of Finance as well as to the central government and its key ministries. To support critical operational business applications, including central finance, budget planning, supply chain, procurement and HR management systems, Fjársýsla Ríkisins would ensure systems performance, scalability and availability, as well as compliance with data security and location regulations.

The migration of the systems to Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, a hybrid cloud database platform provided as a managed service by Advania, has enabled Fjársýsla Ríkisins to significantly improve application latency – including up to 300% faster data processing and analysis of core applications – while maintains full control over data management. In addition, Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer provides data management automation capabilities that help Fjársýsla Ríkisins increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Oracle. “Our distributed cloud approach enables customers like Fjársýsla Ríkisins to store data and applications where they need them, which is one of the reasons why we are seeing significant growth in demand for Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer in the public sector, financial services, telecommunications and other highly regulated industries worldwide.”

Exadata Cloud@Customer combines one of the world’s leading database technologies and Exadata, one of the most powerful database platforms, with the simplicity, agility, elasticity and subscription benefits of a cloud-based deployment. It runs in Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous Database, similar to a public cloud, but is located in the customers’ own data centers and managed by Oracle Cloud experts. This enables a consistent cloud experience for customers whether they are on-premises or in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data centers.
