The image of Sean Connery in a “men’s bikini” is familiar to everyone – Yle will soon show the film from which the scene originates

Sean Connery starred in the science fiction film Zardoz in 1974. Few have probably seen the entire film, but the image of the Bond star in a “men’s bikini” is even more famous.

Directed by John Boorman, Zardoz is an ambitious vision of the future and a cult film about a 22nd century brutal barbarian who encounters the wondrous, abundant world of the civilized and immortal.

In addition to Sean Connery, the film stars Charlotte Rampling, Sara Kestelman and John Alderton.

As a side note, Boorman ended up making Zardozi after the ambitious Lord of the Rings film adaptation failed. Initially, Burt Reynolds was attached to the main role of Zardoz, but after the actor left the role, Sean Connery took the opportunity to show that he is more than just James Bond.

Well, that plan worked out quite well.

Yle will soon offer a good opportunity to educate itself, as Zardoz will arrive at Yle Areena on Wednesday, November 27, and in addition, the film will be shown on Saturday, November 30 at Yle Teema.
