The “wave” of coronavirus that has hit Denmark this summer continues to roll.
This is the conclusion from chief physician and section leader at the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) Bolette Søborg after the latest update of the figures for confirmed cases and infection.
The numbers have increased since last week.
The amount of covid-19 in the wastewater – which paints the most accurate picture of how much coronavirus there is in society – has increased to be at a “medium level”.
It is the first time since January that this has happened.
– The number of people infected with corona is increasing. We can also see at the same time when we look at the number of hospital admissions that the increase is not significant. So there are many infected, but there are not very many who become seriously ill from it, and that is good, says Bolette Søborg.
She emphasizes that the Danes should not be concerned that the curves on various graphs are rising.
– We don’t have to fear anything. You must remember the good advice that you were probably familiar with during the pandemic – that you must stay at home if you are sick, and remember to ventilate and have good hand hygiene, and of course keep your distance from people who are sick, says Bolette Søborg.
