The management of the Spanish football team FC Girona will have to call up several players from the reserve for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Slovan Bratislava. The reason for this move is the expanding list of injured.

Striker Abel Ruiz is the latest addition to the injured list, which already includes Viktor Cygankov, Oriol Romeu, Jhon Solis, Portu, Bryan Gil, Pau Lopez and Yaser Asprilla.

Thus, Girona has only 12 footballers from the first team at their disposal. The midfielder Gabriel Misehouy was registered in the “B”.

“We are missing Abel Ruiz due to muscle problems. Misehouy cannot play. Marc Aznar, Juan Arango, Selvi Clua and two goalkeepers will come from the reserve team, but we have to assess them.

In spite of everything, we still have enough players available to create a basic lineup,” coach Míchel said, according to Reuters.

Girona have never qualified for the Champions League in their 94-year history. It secured its participation in this season’s edition of the competition by finishing third in La Liga.

“We don’t want to play just another game. For me, tomorrow’s duel will be as special as the previous two. We have to win tomorrow if we want to progress,” added the Spanish skipper.

Last month, Girona lost to Paris St Germain after a Paul Gazzaniga own goal in the 90th minute, and then lost at home to Feyenoord Rotterdam 2:3.
