The inner areas of Budapest are covered by homeless people

In the meantime, the Hungarian Charity Service of Malta is also preparing for the winter period and the care of the homeless. Emília Morva, head of the love service in Budapest, said that their winter preparations are proceeding at the usual pace, they can open and continue the year with the same capacities as in previous years.

– We are not opening new places yet, all our existing accommodation institutions are working fine, we will open new places if the weather makes it necessary – Emília Morva told our newspaper.

The head of the charity service said that huge minuses are not necessary to make it necessary to open extra capacities, it is enough if it rains for several days and it is cold, because in such cases the homeless can easily get cold. In such cases, the Hungarian Charity Service of Malta pays much more attention to homeless people living on the street, they try to invite them into hostels.

– We can wait for homeless people with around four hundred overnight beds. These are night shelters and temporary accommodations, said the expert. – If it is necessary, we can open a new place as long as we see that someone is standing at the door or someone is brought in who is waiting to be accommodated. In such cases, we also furnish exhibition spaces and lecture halls, but this was needed a long time ago – Emília Morva added, and then highlighted that, in parallel, the street care service operates throughout Budapest, as part of which the staff and volunteers of the charity service are in daily contact with the homeless.
