The Investigative Committee opened a case after the massacre in the St. Petersburg hypermarket “Okay”

Investigators are working at the scene of the emergency.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has clarified the number of victims as a result of a man’s attack on visitors to the Okay hypermarket.

Four victims were hospitalized. People were found to have injuries of varying degrees of severity.

In connection with the massacre in a St. Petersburg hypermarket, a criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Art. 30, paragraph “a”, part 2, art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder of two or more persons), the press service of the Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Northern Capital reported.

Investigators are currently seizing video footage from surveillance cameras installed in a store on Kosmonavtov Avenue. Department officials are also examining the scene of the incident and working with eyewitnesses.

The prosecutor’s office of the Moskovsky district of St. Petersburg took control of the investigation of the criminal case. The press service of the supervisory agency said that district prosecutor Denis Zagorodnyuk went to the scene of the incident to coordinate the activities of law enforcement agencies and emergency services.

According to the Mash Telegram channel, the attacker, who was detained at the crime scene, was a professional fencing enthusiast, but left the sport about 10-15 years ago.

According to SHOT, the inadequate man had previously often visited this “Okay” and bought strong alcohol. In the near future, the attacker will undergo a medical examination, after which he will be taken to the police department.

Earlier it was reported that six people were injured as a result of an attack by an unknown person in the sausage department of the St. Petersburg “Okay”.
